hello, I notice that my defroster will not come on I only get heat from the floor. reading about it here I checked the vacuum, and I have none. I even took off the hose from the pump and started it and nothing when I put my finger on it.

my question is can I pull this out and look at it? do I have to mark the position like a dist.?

it goes in any position. if it doesn't work, its more than likely toast. even if it doesn't work it needs to be in there to drive the oil pump.

How much vacuum are the distributor type pumps supposed to pull? I have 2 and just tested both and they barely reached 5 mm/Hg.

at an idle, they should hit 20-25 in/hg. should only take a sec with a drill to hit it. I have 4 here, only one puts that out, the others are about 5
