I wont go over all the details.... Its pretty well covered.

The big question is ...where to go through the firewall?

I've seen guys hack apart the rubber boots, at the main electrial loom point... No thanks.

Most all the backside of the firewall is covered with plastic, or steel.

What to do?

This.....

There is an opening in the interior that matches this cutout in the firewall. Use grommets to preserve the wiring / tubing.

I drilled the manifold right below the intake tubing. No problem. All the shavings fell right out.

Same goes for the EGT. Just drill the hole , and cram her in there. I've seen guys say the onlt reason they bought that $300 manifold, is it comes pre drilled. For $300, I'll come to your house, and drill. This is a super easy mod....

This is what it all looks like. I left off the spit loom stuff so you guys could see better.

So, what do I think of having gagues?

I hit 30lbs boost, and 1200 degrees all the time, just driving around. I cant imagine what towing is going to be like...

If you think gagues are just for guys hauling #20k pounds..... think again.!

very nice. I have been wondering where to run extra wires also... not like the old days where you could drill anywhere on the firewall.

one question, how long did it take you to drill in the manifolds? being that this is my ONLY mode of transportation I dont want to get into it and find it's harder than it looks and be down for more than an afternoon.

one question, how long did it take you to drill in the manifold?

Less than 5 minutes.

Tapping it took 5 more.

10 , tops.

I drilled it with the engine off, in about 6 steps up the the final size.

No shavings were produced, only dust.

Because of the way taps work, I actually tapped it with the engine running.

WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES!!!!

+2 on the goggles.

when you tap have the motor running so the pressure at that hole will blow any shavings out through the hole and not go any further. the turbine isn't spinning at this point so it's not that bad. Also, put grease on every flute of your tap to catch the shavings as you're twisting it and they don't fall anywhere. I've seen many say you have to remove the manifold and you don't.

sounds good. I know all about the safety and use of tap & die sets (structural mechanic in the Navy). I didnt know about the ability to do this with the manifold installed. A local shop wants to charge for 5-7 hours labor to install a set of gauges. I've done pillar pods and the hardest part is where to route the wires. thanks for the tips and tricks. I'll keep this in mind when I get around to installing mine.

I think I did mine in 3.... 3.5

I have not wired the gauges into the panel wiring yet though.....

Its really simple.

Pop off the right front and inner fenderwell.

Drill in several steps from 1/8" to Size "R" If you dont have an "R", 21/64ths works.

Only dust will be produced.... no sharp , curly, shavings.

Tap with engine running to blow out the chips. I didnt use grease, I want the chips blown OUT.

The exhaust isnt all that hot, no worries about getting burned.

Did I mention the safety goggles?

;)

I drilled and tapped mine with the engine runnig. I had the hole drilled and tapped in less than 8 min. For the tap I had a tap socket and put a long extension then the ratchet. Worked great with no problems. The hardest part of the the whole thing is running wires and removing the inner fender well. That was a P.I.T.A. I mounted my guages in the overhead console. A little tougher to do but I like the nice clean look. You cant tell you have guages from the outside. Looks factory. Definately make sure you wear saftey goggles or glasses. The shavings come blowin out of there.

I tapped the manifold with the engine running and had no problem. Just make sure you put on some anti-sezze cause you never know when it might fail.
