From all the problems I've read about the D-Max here I'm starting to wonder if ordering the D-Max is the right thing to do.

Has all the problems with the D-Max been fixed?

The order for our truck goes in tomorrow, comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dwayne

you will love the truck and the so called problems you are reading about on here equate to like 1% of the total owners. The trucks are awesome, enjoy it

The only real problems I have heard about the Duramaxs are the injectors. It doesn't worry me though because of the 200k mile warranty on the injectors. Also, I have faith in GM that they will eventually fix the injector problems. Also, the reason you hear about problems is because forums is where people come to find solutions for their problems, so its no coincidence that you see all the problems here. Also, if you think the Duramax has problems, then check out the Ford sick.0 forums. I love my truck and it has been trouble free and I have 6k miles on it. Hopefully it will give me 15 years of trouble free performance.

Just hit 3000 miles today and loved every mile of it. I have the same truck minus the tonau (sp?) cover and the DVD. I got a better deal on a 9" panasonic, (2" larger than the factory panasonic) self contained unit, that also reads photos from the SD memory card out of my Panasonic Camcorder, two headphones, for $800.00 installed at Circuit City. They also will add the FM modulator for another $50.00 (the factory unit plays through an input on the radio) but I felt like they (my triplets) could use the headphones.

Enjoy the truck, I know you will.

17,700 miles and no issues. I wouldn't worry about any issues, just maintain the fuel system (and the rest of the truck) and it should be good for a while. 5 year/100000 mile warranty on the Duramax, you could always trade right before it gets to that point.

Dont let these sites discourage you after all these sites are for posting problems and every vehicle company has problems, I thought the same when I bought mine I said to myself "what the hell did I buy". Dont let it get you down on your purchase. I have 10,000 miles on mine and I smile everytime I start the truck up. A friend of mine has a LB7 motor with 82,000 miles on his and never have had to get then injectors replaced, still the original injectors. You also have to look at some of the computer mods people are putting in there trucks I personnaly dont like them all they do is push the parts to there limits which they were not designed for and when the truck starts having problems they blame the truck.

I have just about 20K on mine and have had just a couple of minor issues that were covered under warranty (intercooler hose leak TSB and Glow plug module replaced). All my balance rates on the injectors are well within spec.

Thankful

Do the injectors really have a 200k warranty?

No!!!!!!!!....Just certain earlier LB7 engines. Otherwise just the standard 100,000 mile coverage.

You will enjoy the duramax. My lb7 has 116k, 3319 hours and other than injectors under warranty one time, it has been a great truck. Plan on putting 300k on it

I do not know how much those nerf bars cost in the "aftermarket" but I'd HIGHLY sugjest you purchase them yourself and put them on. I can't see them costing almost $500. hell you could almost save yourself a months truck payment :) if you get them and install them yourself. Just a thought

Go for the truck. 20,000 miles here and the only shop visit was for a computer update/flash. Actually, it was never even checked in, my buddy did it in the parking lot, then filled out the paper work for me after the fact.

I am going to schedule a vist to take care of a small leak on the left rear axle seal and the driveshaft seal at the transfer case. All under warranty, but I have been putting it off just in case any other "small" items creep up.

27,000 miles (about 12,000 towing) on my 2004.5 and it runs great with no issues. It is my first GM and HD truck and it has far exceeded my expectations as a tow vehicle and as a daily driver. I have had Audis, Nissans, Acuras, Hondas, etc and this is by far the most comfortable highway driver.

Over 270,000 on my LB7 with no repairs (except the end gate cables), my LLY has 24K on it only one problem, VVT position failure when it had 25 miles on it.

Great tow vehicles,

Enjoy

6 Shooter,
I was asking the same question when I was shopping for a new diesel rig. When I checked with the mechanics at the utility company I work for, regarding their experiences (since we work our line crew trucks pretty hard). I was pleased to hear their praises for the GM diesels. Only one mechanic favored the Dodge - 'course he marches to the beat of a different drummer anyways. . .
Enjoy that '05! I am!
