Coating verses actual metal composition. Coatings wear and deteriorate.

the stainless will never rust. the aluminum is a good piece for the price, but will eventually show signs of rust. I had purchased the aluminum in the beginning and wasn't worried about rust because of where I live. You aren't far from me..

You must also remember that diesels exhaust is not near as corrosive to the exhaust like gassers are. Aluminized on a gasser won't last very long. IMHO aluminized on a diesel will last quite a long time. I don't really care what the exhaust pipes look like underneath my truck, the tailpipe/tip are the only part/s that anyone else can see. I can't justify spending the extra cash on stainless especially when I trade trucks every so often. If You plan on driving the truck the rest of your life - definately invest in the stainless.

Just purchased/installed the aluminized MBRP cool duals. Nice looking setup under the truck, especially with 5" SS tips. JJ :)

I also wanted to go with aluminum, but here in Ohio the salt will eat that away in no time. On a side note, will the aluminum exhaust help disperse heat better than stainless?

Straitdiesel, you might try PM'ng Mark Craig and ask his advice. He knows the SS and aluminized systems as well as most. Straight shooter to. JJ :)

What all 5" aluminized do they make cuz I've never seen anything 5" stainless(probably because it outrageously expensive). Anybody have pics of their 5" under neith and stuff?

you show me a stainless that doesn't rust, and i'll show you a truthful politician!!
most all the stuff now is a low grade stainless, and the welds are hardly ever true, not to mention the hardware. send it up here to the land of the salted streets for 2 winters, and you can practically get plastic to rust. in arizona, they probably last longer than you can measure.

My MBRP system has never seen salt but one time and it has surface rust all over it.

All because it say it's stainless dosen't mean it's rust free stainless. All different grades of stainless out there. The good stuff has a higher nickle content and will also cost more. If you find a stainless system close to an aluminized system price wise... Pass it up. you get what you pay for! The stainless also will resist heat soaking. As exhaust gasses cool, the gasses expand, causing unwanted back pressure. I would like to see someone with a dyno take identical systems (one in stainless and one in aluminized) and see if there is a significant difference in horsepower/torque between the two. Probably not engough unless you are one of those diehards, looking to extract every single ounce of power available. I personally am purchasing the summit 5" system, http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?Ntt=sum680006&N=0&part=SUM%2D680006&autoview=sku&Ntk=KeywordSearch , and if I like it and it rots out, it will be replace with a good quality Stainless system!
