I know I saw this but it did not show up in a search.
What is Good?
What Brand Model Is Bad?
Has any one seen any thing with a smart "wait to start feature" (wait for a signal from the vehicle)
Any one see any thing that can turn on a high idle after start?
Thanks

As you look around stores/internet for models, you'll quickly find which are the more popular. The only thing I wouldn't do is buy a cheapie off ebay. Buy from a reputable place. Where you buy it from and who installs it is more important

It's a pretty common feature. But again, make sure who installs it knows their stuff. Don't compare strictly on price.

No, but you can install a high idle switch and leave it in the on position. See any post by WhiteK2500 or Kennedy's website - they have a step-by-step.

With your 95, all you really need to do is locate your temp sending unit on top of your upper intake manifold. It has a yellow wire and a black wire. Wire in/splice the yellow wire and add a on/off toggle switch. When the circuit is interupted, the comp thinks its -40* and extends GP time accordingly AND it raises the idle a few hundred RPM. Try just unplugging it at the manifold before you start and see the difference before cutting a wire.
Then all you do is flip the switch after you shut it off for the night and when you start it, it will be just fine. Before you drive off, turn it back to 'on' and the rpm's drop to normal and your good to go.

you can also wire in a high idle switch. Kennedy has all the info on his site. the OBD I trucks, like yours, only have one high idle speed. the OBD II trucks have 3(1070,1360,1600). i'd say wire it in and leave the switch in the "on" position when you park for the night. i usually just go outside start the truck up, let the glowplug system do its afterglow(s), then kick on the 1070 high idle, turn on the heat and go back inside. works great. :D

most remote starts are vehicle specific,, and then add and extra module for diesels,, some times 30 to 40 bucks more,,, I'd have it done by a Pro,,, ask you local dealership, who they use. I'd bet a good one will set you back about $300 total. We had one installed on the wifes malibu that reaches 1000ft. She has Asthma, and setting the heater to high/defrost, with her set up,, lets her go to the front of the building she works in, and the button, and start car from inside, then when she gets thru the 500ft parking lot, to a warm car, she won't have an attack while sitting there waiting for the thing to defrost enought to start driving. Great X-mas gift!!

go with the viper 5301 2way remote start, or go with the 5701 remote start and security, both offer the wait to start option for us diesel guys
