Hey I looked around the site and from what I can tell everyone is saying there is no TPS on my model of truck
1998 2500 6.5 TD 2wd
Almost positive its a 4l80, could be wrong though
Anyhow the problem I have been having is occasionally at idle, when in park, or when in OD at a stop light I will feel the engine rev on its on then go back down to idle. It doesn't happen that often, but it is enough of a difference to notice. The other thing is that it's happened to me twice already, but I will be at a stop light or stop sign, take off to go and there will be no throttle response. Turn the truck off, turn it back over and all throttle power is back. Then this morning I was driving, left from a stop sign and had put the pedal almost all the way to the ground to get it working, stopped at a stop light shortly after, maybe 200ft. and then out of nowhere truck started working fine again.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I just requested that a mod move this to the 6.5 forum as this is a known issue with the 6.5's. Do a search as there was a pretty long thread about this not to long ago.

Thanks for reporting it and letting us know, I'll move this right now.
You'll be in good hands with these guys, they'll take care of you!

I am not too sure but I believe the TPS is actually in the cab and mounted to the firewall at the end of the accelorator pedal, in actuality it is the accelerator pedal. However I am unfamilliar with the newer trucks.
that is just where it is in my truck and I think 94 and up is "drive by wire" ( no throttle cable ) If I am wrong I am sure somebody will chime in.

Your right.'94 and up are drive by wire. The accelerator pedal position sensor is inside the cab and is part of the pedal assembly.

Yes indeed, you do so have a TPS. (Throttle Position Sensor)... it is part of the Accelerator Pedal assembly.
However, it could be a few other things. Please take a minute to fill out your signature (use the link in MY signature) and then go through the Troubleshooting checklist (also found in my signature).
Copy the entire checklist into a post, and then do all of the tests it asks for and type in your findings. That is the fastest and best way for us to be able to help you; we can't hear, see, or touch your truck, so that gives us the information we need.
As a side benefit, it will remind you about a whole bunch of maintenance items that need to be taken care of.
