Used your site to figure out the orignal problem of stalling. Replaced PMD and moved to bumper. Ran fine for 200 mi and now the rpm drops down to an idle and there is no pedal response until you shut it off and restart it. I was going to moved the PMD back up to orginal wiring harnes temporarly to be sure ext harness is good. Has new ops and there is good flow from lift pump. Sometimes ther might be a surge and then its down to an idle. And it does this driving. This is a great site and I hope someone has an Idea.

0. Describe in detail the problem you are having. Please be as descriptive as possible.Changed PMD W/Dtac moved to
bumber. Ran fine for 200 mi. Now it randomly will drop down to an idle no response to pedal, shut it off and restart
and will run fine until it does it again.

Start with cleaning the grounds. Many wierd problems are caused by this.Be shure to get the ones on the back of the intake manifold. There is also one going from the frame to the firewall that is by the exhaust pipe on the passenger side of the engine[sucks to get to]Clean all connections thuroghly with wire brush or my favorite fine emery cloth. Apply dielectric grease after put back together to prevent future corrosion. You may luck out and thats all it is and its free, except the grease. When you get done with that take a minute to fill out your signature[top right by your name clicl on user cp and go to edit sig.] It will help us help you.

Well I think I got it figured out. I drove the truck for 35 mi without a problem. Stop at an auto supply to get a TPS sensor. Went to take off and it started to surge and buck smoke rolling finally dropped to an idle with no response to pedal. Shut it off waited a few seconds and started it and it ran ok for a few hundred feet ended up doing it 2 more times before it started to run right, drove it 7 mi home. Popped the hood and was checking out wiring around the IP when I touched the PMD/EXT connector. The engine surged smoke rolled and if I wiggled it enough it would die. I did this 3 times to make sure it was'nt a fluke. Pulled conn apart and 1 pin was 1/8 " shorter than the others I tried to trim conn body back but it did'nt take much for the plug to slip back and stall engine. So I removed PMD from bumper and pluged it back into main harness. Afterwards no matter how much I wiggled or twisted it there was no affect on the motor. So I'm going to make a bracket to mount to intake until I can get a new harness.

I guess I failed to mention that this truck belongs to a neighbor who dos'nt under stand electronics only slightly less than I do and I don't know much. I'm afraid if I told what I drove I would get black balled off this site.
But what the heh Your a great friendly bunch. Surely you won't hold it against me if I drive a 1990 F250 rustbucket, 248,893 mi, 7.3 deisel,Ford turbo added at 180,000 mi, blown head gasket oil in Radiator, enough blowby to steam a potatoe in 10 min. probably cracked heads. But it still gets 17 mi to gal. Thanks for all the great info and maybe my info will help somebody someday.

Yes, it happened to some of the extension harness.

Where did you get them? I hope it is not Edam.

I hope it is not Edam.

No offense: I hope it is Edam... One bad vendor is one too many. What if there are a bunch of guys out there selling bad extensions????
