I want to replace the heavily corroding OEM wheels I have on my 2004 Ext Cab SB.

I was thinking of jumping to a 18" x 8.5" wheel, with a 265/60R18 which would match stock OD, but for the life of me I cannot find tires with a load rating higher than XL . . . ?

I do tow periodically.

I even looked at 20" x 8.5" with a 265/50R20, and still no go . . .

I really want the OD of the tire to match stock, I do not want to mess with bumper cutting, nor speedo and trans shifting issues . . . .

Any advice?

i went to the major brands actual web site and got the list from each one for the tires i was interested in.

very easy to read and all the sizes are listed so no ifs ands or buts that you may get from a retailer about if they make a particular size

tire size - tire weight - overall width - overall diameter - rev per mile - tire load rating - wear rating - tread cord ply's - side wall cord ply's - tread depth - and a couple of others i cant remember right now

it took a bit of time but its worth it especially if you print out the pages so you can high lite and do side by side comparo's

Thats very good advice LtEng5. I did a little research today and recieved the same results as you Xsta, and even the xl ratings were pretty scarce. Im thinking that with that size tire you are dealing with a rather small sidewall, making it hard to offer a high load rating. My guess is you will have to go to a larger size. Have you considered 17's? I found quite a variety of choices in a 265/7017 E.

I'm not against 17" wheels . . . Just jumping 1" in OD on the wheel isn't much though . . .

Just don't want HUGE tires, that screw up the shifting during towing. Heck my 265/75ZR16 already have the tow mode shifting all sensitive . . .

buy some H2's. Dirt cheap 17" wheels that are an inch and a half wider then stock. The reason I recommend 17" over 18" is that 17" wheels are becoming very popular on stock vehicles so you will have a much bigger selection. Also, the price difference between 17" and 18" tires is pretty big. 18" 's do look really good but I personally could not justify the cost.

Thanks for the feedback . . . I guess for now it is back to the drawing board on wheel and tire choices . . .
