: 6 inch lift and 37's
deemax 11-11-2008, 01:20 AM Im installing a 6 inch fabtech lift on my truck and I would like to run 37 inch tires, Im running 20X10 diamos with -12mm offset, Ive already trimmed to run 305's with my t-bars cranked. Is this possible without rubbing all the time? I am willing to crank it to 7 inches but I would like to stay within that height. The fabtech kit adds 1/2 inch track width. I would go with an 8 inch or a cognito 7-9 but im picking up a brand new fabtech 6 inch for 500 bucks. Anyone running this combo?
quadracer11 11-11-2008, 09:09 AM Not running that but bet you have to crank to atleast 8 though, or get trim happy. Im just sayin. good luck, and good find on the lift price.
jdugie123 11-11-2008, 10:38 AM if you have the tabs behind the splash shields trimmed all the way back and the barking brake cable tied back then you should be ok but the best way is with the bushwacker cut outs you may rub in the rear if fully compress the suspension
deemax 11-11-2008, 11:01 PM Im not worried about rubbing in the rear, Im worried about rubbing in the rear of my front wheel well, Ive trimmed plastic on the front bumper and rear of the wheel well plus ive tied back my brake cable but I dont want to trim any sheet metal. Do you think my ride will suck if I crank it to 8 inches? I run cst balljoint control arms.
Big Fred 11-18-2008, 06:25 PM I am not a brain surgeon and I hope that you don't think that I am being a smart a$$, but when you crank up the bars doesn't that add pressure on your suspesion parts to lift up the front. With that said common sense tells me that added pressure to your suspension would make your truck ride ruffer. I am sure that I am not explaining this right, just my 3 cents.
Jacack 11-19-2008, 07:32 AM not sure if this helps but my buddy has a 1500,6inch rcd and runs 37/12/20 with a 20X10 with a 4.5/8 backspace with very minor trimming.
JShe8918 11-21-2008, 12:14 AM No worries my brother had to trim his he has a procomp 6" with 37's. He didn't rub bad in the back of the front fender well but it caught the bumper awfully. Completely the opposite of mine. Mine rubbed back with stock height and 35's. Trim the bumper ALOT...
carter_44 11-21-2008, 12:24 AM pick up the fabtech and then sell it and then buy a cognito...or do a little trimming.
MAX Attitude 11-21-2008, 12:31 AM How did you get that price on that lift!???
deemax 11-21-2008, 08:32 AM It was listed on ebay, the opening bid was $200, I waited till the last 2 hours to bid since no one else had and right as I was going to bid the seller pulled the listing so I contacted him and we agreed on 500 bucks. I know it was a steal that I couldnt pass up. It is brand new in the box. It may be for sale to help fund a cognito 7-9". Its got to be worth $1200 minimum if not more.
MAX Attitude 11-21-2008, 10:31 AM Nice. If it's a newer Fabtech it only pushes the tires out a 1/2 inch now...they aren't bad lifts. It might not really be worth swapping for a cognito unless you can get someone to buy it for close to what they retail for.
buildingup 11-21-2008, 01:15 PM If you got the lift for that little and it is the old design (kicks the tires out 1.5in per side) just contact Nick and ask him for the redesigned spindals and you will still be ahead on price. If its the new design your doing that much better. You can tell which kit it is by measuring the thickness of the cv spacers. Good luck with everything!
smore79 11-21-2008, 05:36 PM Deemax,
My old lift I had, I was running an RCD 6" kit that fit 37's nicely until you started to get the front end into a bind. I started off with BFG all terrains...then went to Cooper Mudders,.. These where with 17x10" rims with quick a bit of - backspacing. I then put 2" torsion keys and went with 37" Swampers on 20's and they hardly ever rubbed again. Although, your CV shaft angle with be up a bit. I'd watch them if you do go that route.
DrededSS 11-21-2008, 05:56 PM Good deal on that lift. I have a Cognito 7" on my 2500 and run 35's because I took it offroad before having the engine built. In really deep spots and binds, even the 35's rubbed a little. I'm going with 37's now because they look better and I won't be doing any muddin. If you're going to stick mostly on the pavement, do some trimming and go with the 37's.
