I questioned the same thing as I wanted to go to open exhaust, but have yet to find a straight answer.

Has anyone gone to straight exhaust on a 4500?

My engine code is actually LRX not like a 3500 LLY. What other differences are there???

Mylash - the finger sticks and blocker plates are things that us LLY guys have to use in order to get around certain codes our computers set when there's little to no exhaust backpressure. This causes the computer to think the Exhaust gas Recirculation system (emissions equipment) is not functioning properly. The lack of backpressure comes from removing the catalytic convertor and straightpiping the exhaust. As far as the blocker plate it is just a plate that blocks the EGR system from blowing soot back through the motor. Hope that clears things up.

baconmotorsport - sorry I don't have any knowledge of the med duty truck for you.

Thank you, I had wondered if it were possible to get rid of the emissions junk.. I too now await the knowledgeable guy, with the answer.. Having the truck smell like a gasser is really annoying. I like a diesel to smell like one. I want to mess with the exhaust anyway.. it should sound a whole lot better than it does..
