How many folks have the "upgrade" alternator? I think it's a 147 but I'm not sure. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif Anyway, what's the difference? What would justify having the upgrade? What is the real difference between having 2 105's or one 140ish Alt? Would the extra power help a power module or does it really matter?

If power module means Juice or Quadzilla or whatnot, then the amperage that your alternator supplies will not have any impact on the box. Most think of power modules to increase horsepower and torque. A high amperage alternator will not get you any additional HP/TQ from the Juice or whatnot.

I think it was covered in this post http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1457&KW=dual

Seems that 2 alternators put out better numbers at low RPM than on big one at low RPM.

I have the single upgrade alternator. I dont know the difference I just assume its more HD with a better out put to keep up with electrical demands when towing, plowing, etc.
