Not sure if this is the place for this.....

Just got a core motor and I was looking at all the accessories like the valve covers, oil pans, manifolds, etc. The exhaust manifolds look odd. The normal manifolds, like on my truck, the 3-bolt flange for the up-pipe (turbo feed pipe) is perpendicular - or facing the firewall. The manifolds that came with this motor they turn back toward the bellhousing . Does that mean it came out of van or Kodiak or something? And if so, is there any other differences that'll prevent me from using this for a high perf. motor build?

I think Kodiak, but not sure what the van uses. I don't think you'll have a problem going into a regular truck though. Some people think the kodiak manifolds and up pipes flow better.

Sounds like 4500 manifolds. I can find a home for those for you.:D

I know they look way different than the ones that are on my truck now. Is there going to be anything else different like the bellhousing, timing cover, etc.?

The bell housing is different IIRC. I have a regular one if you need it. Gasuout would be the one to post here. He just went through most of this.

Bell housing, motor mounts, oil pans

I don't have the up pipes, I don't think. Everything came on a pallet and in tubs - it was disassembled. I haven't really looked at every little piece yet.

LBZrcks - I thought the bell housing looked goofy too. I don't have the motor mounts anyway. The oil pan is different? Both the upper and lower oil pan or just the lower?

Thanks Rick. I'll pm Gasuout.

I have up pipes if you want them. The only problem with them is fitting the down pipe.

Those manifolds and up-pipes do not fit a pickup with out doing some work on the driverside firewall. They are a nicer looking part than the pickup parts but we have not found them to help or hurt the performance over a pickup manifold set. The rear main seal adapter plate that has the bellhousing bolts is for a SAE #1 bolt pattern as I recall on the 4500 motors. In order to change it you need to drop both the upper and lower oil pan so you can install the pickup truck parts all at one time.

x2. Or you modify the manifolds.:D

The round bell housing pattern is the SAE #1 setup.
