The background light behind my volt meter went dim this weekend, about half the light of all the others. A buddy told me he thinks that there are a cluster of lights behind it and one must have burnt out. Any ideas and how hard is it to fix it?
Thanks.

Don't know for sure but I bet it's not difficult.
Remove the dash bezel.
Remove the cluster. (4 screws)
Disconnect the harness.
Take the back side off of the cluster (maybe).
Swap out the bulbs. (Might need to do some soldering...)

Yeah, you have a light bulb out.
It's not the easiest thing to replace but it can be done. If you're not good with electronics and soldering, I'd think twice about tackling the job.
The tough part is getting to the bulb. You have to go through the front. TO do that you have to remove the lens, needles, gauge face, and the light guide. The bulbs are soldered to the circuit board, so you'll have to de-solder the burnt one and solder in the new one. Then re-assemble. If you do this make sure you turn on the truck while it is cool and note/mark the needle positions and/or take a digital pic so you can get them on right once you're done. If you do it on your own and get stuck, drop me a line and I’ll help you out. If you don't want to tackle it, take it to an electronic repair shop, or send it to me for a day and I'll fix it and send it back for a small fee....
