: Dumb fluid level question

Changed my transmisson filter tonight and performed the cold level check procedure. My fluid level is EXACTLY on the full mark of the cold marking area. Because its cold here and hard to get the 160-200 needed for a hot level check(without hooking up the trailer). Does anyone know what EXACTLY full cold translates to when fully warmed up?

There's a pretty generous range of level for both cold and hot. Cold can be a little more misleading because you can get a lot of drainback from the tranny to the pan, depending on how long it's been sitting. Best thing to do is to fire it up, let it idle for a minute or two and then (while holding a foot on the brake!) work it through all the selections on the column a couple of times - pausing for a second or two in each gear selection to allow solenoids to shift and fluid to be rerouted. When you get back to Park - shut her down and take another cold reading within a few minutes of shutdown. I wouldn't be too worried if it's a bit below the top of the cold range - there's a lot of fluid in the tranny and a few ounces here and there out of 12 or 13 quarts is not critical.
