Have a 2004 stock duramax, 15000 miles. recently I was pulling about 12000 lbs up a long grade, after that I noticed oil on the exit side of the itercooler. I had to add 2 qts. of oil. Temps were climbing but did not get close to overheating. Remainder of trip I had no oil use. Has this happened to anyone? :help:

If you have oil anywhere in the intercooler, there's a good chance your turbo is sucking it past the seal and pushing it into the intake. Could be a dangerous situation, diesels like to overspeed if you feed them enough oil in the intake. Excessive restriction on the inlet side of the turbo can accelerate turbo seal leakage.

There is a GM bulletin out for the outlet of the intercooler leaking oil. Mine has started a little leak at 11K miles. Do a search here on DP and you'll find it.

Bgavin ... is your 2004 a LB7 or LLY engine? Both were produced in the 2004 model year. It makes a difference since they vent differently.

I think the bulletin in the following thread may be the one that SteveNorCal is thinking about. It is for the LLY.

Thank you BH in AZ and SteveNorCal. My Truck is a LLY, and I am going to the dealer asap. I still wonder about the oil loss.
