: Where are all the van guys?
lotsofmiles 11-07-2008, 09:26 PM Been pretty slow in the van threads.
Hopefully all of you are busy working. I know I've been pretty busy this week with work, help moving my sister, fighting city hall, cleaning up my building, and a home remodel still going on.
chillman1971 11-08-2008, 12:49 AM Pretty busy with about 25% of the usual business for this time of year. Good news is I have had time to catch-up on thinking about things that need to be done around the house. :eyecrazy:
lotsofmiles 11-08-2008, 06:19 AM Thinking about things can be most of the project
Joey D 11-08-2008, 08:30 AM Working:D
ShopSpecialties 11-08-2008, 02:36 PM I put on about 6,500 miles on last month and I am still 2 months behind.
lotsofmiles 11-08-2008, 06:37 PM nothing wrong with keeping busy. I'm glad to be working
Kevan 11-08-2008, 10:53 PM Same here. Put in eight hours on Saturday just because things have slowed down and I need to run the calls whenever they appear. My van really needs more attention than it's been getting :o:
CHV_FRK 11-11-2008, 09:33 AM Maybe abducting people?

they are very handy for that. That's why I got mine with no windows.
chillman1971 11-11-2008, 10:16 PM I just painted my side and rear windows flat black. It looks better than any tint job I have ever had done.:grd:

tko79 11-12-2008, 12:05 PM Just changed 6.2 engine, now doing some issues with electrics ;)
lotsofmiles 11-13-2008, 09:53 PM anyone else notice this:
bought a small cargo trailer 5X8 760lbs. took all my equipment out and put most of it in the trailer. seems like I'm getting better mpgs pulling my equipment than riding with it

lotsofmiles 11-29-2008, 09:27 PM maybe I'm just easier on the go pedal with the trailer.

I was just reminded of a long time ago - There was a fellow I worked with who had an 83 ford econoline (351 gasser) - he ALWAYS towed around this little 5X8 fully enclosed trailer, it was usually empty. Anyways to the point! He said he got about 17-18 mpg with the trailer, about 14 without it. Apparently the trailer broke up ALOT of the wind disturbance and drag behind the van. I didn't have a van until recently; maybe i should invest in a cargo trailer myself?:)
Otter 04-01-2009, 11:08 AM It always seemed to me that with the mostly flat, tall shape of our vans that it creates a standing vortices....these vortices actually create suction. By placing a trailer that is smaller and narrower like the 5X8 behind the van it helps to break this up. Look at a modern car with excellent aerodynamics ...they are wider in the front and narrow in the back...this helps to break that up.
or I could be wrong.
axiom 04-04-2009, 03:35 PM sitting puzzled... random problems keep popping up with the engine
work is slower then ever up here
