: Lift Pump Applications?

I have a question about your lift pump applications. I have searched and read for a good many hours about lift pumps, filtration, fuel systems, my eyes are starting to bug out of my head. How can you get around the lift pump if it should fail? Is there a lift pump designed that will allow fuel to flow if it has no power to it? I understand people have all different kinds of setups for all different types of applications. I am planning on running a Nicktane kit and installing a lift pump post nicktane and pre OEM with a fuel pressure gauge hooked into the existing bleeder tap on the OEM filter. Is this thinking way out of line? Will it work? Any thoughts, suggestions, pictures or schematics of systems that are existing? As always your infinite wisdom is appreciated.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I have a Stanadyne FM 100 with lift pump. I come with a filter, and on my system, I use it at 5 microns. My system is a plumbing nightmare, as I have an aux tank and valve and other filters, so I wouldn't be doing any favors to shoot photos (maybe when I clean up the hoses I will).
I believe that a 10 micron and a 30 micron are available for the FM100. Pumps are designed to push, so I would use it pre Nicktane (which is a really good idea!) with maybe a 30 micron on the FM100.
Or you could use the pump that Kennedy is developing.
Both pumps will allow the injection pump to pull through them if the pump fails.
I have a Holly pump as a lift pump o my JD 4430, and it leaks, is intolerant of any debris, and will not flow fuel if it locks up. Others have had good luck with them.
Makes your eyes spin, huh!

The Super Diesel lift pumps do flow if they fail. They come with a prefilter (10 micron) for the long life of the pumps and do ever thing that our trucks currently need. They are a true on demand system that has high flow at higher boost pressure or lower flow with lower pressure and runs 2-3 psi constaintly. You can turn them off if needed as well.
