I have a 2001 with 94,000 miles on it and it has a pretty good lope at idle I know there is possibly a problem with the pressure regulator from what I've read here. Can anybody recommend a dealer in oakland county michigan area, the last time I took it in the young tech said they all do it and it is probly fuel. These guys don't want to do anything I don't know if it is just being lazy or lack of knowledge. My concern is I'll be out of the 100,000 mile warranty real soon and want to get it taken care of but I need some info in hand when I go in again to ask for more detail on why I'm having this problem know and not in the past.

mine had a surge also...seemed only in drive and idling with my foot on the brake that it was noticable, anyway i waited till it was below half a tank and i added a can of diesel injector cleaner ( enough for a 100 litres added to 35 litres ). drove it a 100 kms and it cleared up.

good luck

It could be the fuel pressure regulator, mine does the same thing. Do you know if the warranty is 5yr/100,000mile, or just straight 100,000. My '01 was delivered in late '00, only has 68,000 miles, but it's creeping up on 5 years now, definitely want to get in done under warranty.

Mine used to do it too, use Diesel Kleen every tank now and it doesnt do it. The grey bottle not the white one.
