If you buy the Prodigy brake controller pre-wired, it is plug & play.

Thanks man!!! do you have a link for this controller and is it a good controller for a triple axle trailer with a GVW of 15,000?

I use the prodigy on my 10 ton gooseneck works like a champ, Depending on how much towing you do The brake Smart may be an option. I have never towed 10tons, but it is a dual axel dual wheel trailer...Good Luck

WHat is the brake smart system? Isnt there a difference in what controller one would need for using a 3 axle instead of a 2 right?

Brake Smart ties into your brake line itself.

There's no doubt in my mind that the Brakesmart is the better controller, but the Prodigy is outstanding for us guys that haul only occassionally. It will take longer to drill the holes to mount the prodigy than it will to hook it up if you get the GM connector with it. If I were a professional hauler, I'd get the Brakesmart, but it goes for about $350 by the time you get the harness for it.

THe Prodigy looks like a good controller. Tekonsha is the same brand that I had on my last truck. :ro)

Does anyone know anything about installing a class 5 hitch on our trucks??

Thanks again, VR :help:

Does anyone know anything about installing a class 5 hitch on our trucks??

Thanks again, VR http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/help.gifI just put a reese titan class 5 on my CC/SB 4x4. Took all of about 1 hour to pull the factory hitch and install the new one. Most of the time was to drill two new mounting holes. If you have a long box, no drilling needed. Two hints
1)Helps to have a second pair of arms to hold the hitch in place and get one set of bolts installed. From there on it is a easy 1 man job.
2) lower the spare tire a few inches so it hangs free. From the factory mine was to far forward and hit against the hitch when I first tried to install it. When I dropped it down it cleared, and when I tightened it back up it cleared the hitch by several inches.

I think Draw-tite also sells the same hitch. The factory hitch was tilted up and I couldn't get my wd hitch to tilt forward enough to get my bars to work. The TITAN looks about 100x stronger than the stock.

I tow my 3 axle airstream using the prodigy.. It is the best one I have tried yet. If the Brakesmart is better, it must be amazing. I fitted the prodigy to my '05 Kodiak in about 15 minutes.. it was quite easy. The truck came with a Class V installed - took some time to find a way of attaching the Hensley Arrow to it.. :)
