no one answered my last post, so i figured i'd give it another shot. anyways, i hear this ticking noise before the turbo spools on light acceleration and cruising, no noise on deceleration. the noise seems to go away when the turbo begins to spool. now i am new to the duramax, so forgive me. i love the truck. is this normal, maybe something like a silencer peice of junk or something else. i have never heard this on any turbo car i've driven. any thoughts would be appreciated. 700 miles on truck.

My engine ticks also. Been told this is normal. Do a search on ticking. Lots have been written on this subject. Don't think it is related to the turbo though.

i've never noticed it at idle like some older threads stated, just when i lightly accelerate or cruise on the highway.

I don't hear mine at idle. Only when under a very light throttle. Kinda unnerving but you will get used to it.

I think the dealer has a service bullitin on this. If you do a search the bullitin is listed. In a nut shell it says it is normal and instructs the dealer to attempt no repair. I did some checking on this subject right after I bought my truck. I bought mine used so I was concerned that somthing was wrong since I was not the origional owner.

If it makes you feel better then take it in. But I guarantee you it is nothing to worry about. Just drive it.

people who buy Diesels and have never had them before need to understand they make different noises.
taking off with a cold truck will produce different noises then a warm truck.
and different noises with different rpm's and throttle positions.
just need to get used to your truck.

I'm quite upset...when my truck is warm, sounds like a GASSER -:t All kidding aside when the engine is warm she's very quiet. When high Idle is on in the winter at night, sounds like I have a Jetliner preparing to taxi lol.
