Picked up a repo'd 2004 3500 dually and didn't get any manuals. I am going to be getting the 04 Silverado owner manual and Diesel supplement from Helm Inc. whom I found supplies the dealers with their owner manuals. Anywho, until then I want to make sure I am starting this right as I don't see any glow light. When I first turn the key on I see what appears to be a illuminated lock in the left hand corner as well as an orange illuminated engine block. The engine block pic never goes out, but the lock pic does. Just what is the glow light on this truck? Also have found a cord on the passenger side under the hood.....I assume this is the block heater and that I just plug it into an extension cord over the winter months and all is good to leave plugged in overnight? Last question, I see bottles of diesel supplements (catalyst stuff maybe?) to add to the fuel....should I be doing this every so often? Sorry for the dumb questions, never owned a diesel before.
