Hey guys,
I recently bought a DS-4 5521 IP for $23 from the auction site. When I received it, The first thing I tried out was the PMD. It stalled out three times on my '94 in 5 minutes. I'd wadger that the rest of the pump is in working order and can't wait to try it out.

You might pull the top cover and just look to make sure its not full of water.
Good chance that was the problem with it, good luck!

Check the date on it. Right below the tag. Also there is a casting date on the side of the pump.. That pump looks like crap I hate to say. If it's not aleast a 2001 I would pass on installing it.

it's a 2000 and it has a lilttle surface oxidation from being shelved.

That's not surface oxidation on the wiring - that pump is is either hi-mileage, or well-used from some very dusty conditons.
That wiring and FS cover are semi-protected by their location.
Either way, 23 bucks is considerably less than the core charge.
Also - try loosening the FSD transistor nuts, run them down finger-tight, then 1/4 turn more with nut-driver, to get less than 11"lbs torque.
Any more torque than that will break the ceramic lead-to-case seals which, of course, ruins the transistor(s).

This is the least rust I've seen out of the 8 or so pumps I've looked in.
I have three bad/stalling pmd's to try that on, gmctd.

Want another 2nd gen one? ;) BTW, looks pretty stinking good inside! But you can't tell exactly what shape its in unless you tear it apart or put it on a test bench. Its a lot of work to install in the truck just to find out the CTIME is too long...

Hence the wadger. I bet it works.

I've been keeping my eye out for one of those too, since I don't have a clue how many miles are on my IP. Must have missed the one you bought.
Good luck!
