I have learned a lot @ this forum, reading all the GREAT information and help available.
1986 chev 6.2 model =183J, 1L86 4X4, 700R4
Question:
I have a Injector Pump leak. As you lool at the IP, from the passengar side there is a steel shaft with a pivit arm, centered in a large brass housing. This shaft moves in and out as you increase, decrease the speed of the engine. The leak is coming from around this shaft. Small bubbles, appear at iddol, driping slightly a @ 1500 RPM. Is the seal for this shaft on the shaft, or is it inside the pump. What am I going to find when I remove the Brass housing. Can I change the seal for this shaft with out taking the IP off? The engine is all original, except for a Banks Turbo. HELP!
:(

Take a look at that shaft you pulled out. The one you have gripped with pliers in the picture. There is a seal on that shaft. Because that shaft moves there should be a seal on it. Correct me if I am wrong. Replace it.
Because you pulled the top cover make sure you correctly reseal that cover. The side cover as well.

Was it rough changing these orings? I need to do the same with mine.
