I have notice that there is a faint diesel fuel smell on in interior of my Suburban. The vehicle is new to me so I cannot say what happened prior to my purchase of the vehicle. Does any one else have this problem? Most importantly, is there a fix for this issue?

Check if there is any fuel leak.
Check to see if there any OPEN holes.
When I bought my suburban I have a faint diesel smell, which is normal.
Turns out there were a few open holes. The PO was a fire department and apparently, they took out all the emergency gadget (lights and sirens), so the wires were taken out but the holes were left unplugged. So overtime, I found them and unplug them with hole plug. Now, it does not have that smell inside anymore.
It may not be yours but just to give some idea.

There shouldn't be any diesel smell. I smell diesel around mine on the outside, but with everything slightly damp under the intake and around the hoses on the IP including hoses you can tell there is a small leak somewhere. I need to fix it but right now i cant have the truck down and the leak is very small. Not even enough to make a puddle or run down and leak on the ground. If you smell diesel , there is a leak somewhere.

Make sure the ring on the fuel filter is tightened securely or it will leak fuel in the valley on top of engine.

x2 and check to make sure the return lines are still on the injectors. those are the only two times i have ever smelled diesel aside from filling my tank.

alot of truck drivers use gloves when re-fueling their trucks, maybe the previous owner used gloves for filling, then stuck them in the drivers door panel, or put them on the floor on the trans tunnel. maybe the smell is in the carpet or door panel fabric.
You shouldn't smell anything on the inside. I've had diesel Suburbans for 24 years (an 84 & 96). Neither of them smell like a diesel. A leak under the hood might have some of the fumes getting sucked into the ventilation system. I would look there first. Any damp hose or connection should be suspect. Be thorough.
