Hey there I'm looking at buying a set of 285 75 16's for my 03 hd 4x4. I have 265's on it right now, and they barely fit. I know I will need to twist up the torsion bars, but I do not want to cut up new rig. Will they fit, with out triming, I was think about the bfg tko's. How many turns will it take and how badly will this effect my ride.

I didn't have to trim, but I did it anyway. The only thing I had to trim was the mud flaps. The other thing I had to do was reshape the driver's side splash guard in the front. Although, this is on stock rims. I have some eagle alloy 187s on the way. The only trimming I did to the front airdam was on the inside corner. You can't tell unless you look at the airdam up close. See my pics in my signature. I believe the for the most part as long as you don't crank the torsion bars all the way, it doesn't affect the ride that much. Do a search on 285s. Lots of info.

I didnt have any problems with scrubbing. My tires do fine, even when i turn them all the way. You shouldnt have any troubles with them.

I had to trim the splash guard and they still rub on the inside wheel well when turned fully. I am running 285 75/16's on custom wheels.

only rub slightly or backing sharpleft turn over curb, never adjusted the bars at all, on stock rims, aftermarket rims are a hole different thing, on 285bfg

to cure the rubbing on the sharp left turns, look behind the wheel well and you'll see the emergency brake cable coming from the cab. just tie wrap it back to the two holes that are right by it. that will keep the cable from pushing out the wheel well that will be rubbing on your tires.
you would have to take and exacto knife and trim the front portion of the wheel well a little. maybe 1/4". this should cure the rubbing as it only happens on the drivers side.

I've got Bridgestone dueler AT REVO's of the 285 flavor, and they do rub just slightly when turning sharp. The previous owner did trim slightly.

parent:what brand of tires?I am running TOYO's. I purchased the truck used so I don't know if they cranked the torsion bar. Any way to tell if that was done?

weld racing 16x9" wheels and yokohama Geolander AT's in 285 and I didn't crank the T-bars but did have to cut the bottom corner of the bumper a bit and they do rub on the drivers side in a hard left turn.
