I sometimes have a rolling idle and I think it has to do with the EGR system. When I disconnect the vacuum line to the diaphragm on the intake, it straightens out. I have 6 inches of vacuum at this point. What is the expected vacuum one should see on this system? I wonder if my pump is on the way out.

It amazes me how much a faulty EGR solenoid can upset the balance rates and create a loppy idle. Cost me 32 bux to replace the solenoid that sits right above the fuel filter housing. Was leaking pretty bad causing the EGR valve and the intake butterfly valve to pulsate in and out. No wonder my idle was loppy and my balance rates were erratic. The balance rates are now steady as a rock and have even improved.
Throw the whole EGR system in the nearest river

About the only way is EFI live or go to a wrecking yard and get the ECM of a non EGR truck. EFI is something I am contemplating.
