GM really needs to get this motor to the market quick. They are hurting bad for cash. I know I'm not the only red blooded American waiting to buy one as soon as they come out. With the expected mileage and power, this will for sure be a hit if it lives to see a production truck. Ford and Toyota have just paused their light duty diesel plans do to the bad economy. This gives GM a chance, no competition.

This needs to be available in the trucks as well as Avalanches, 'burbans and tahoes. Also needs to be rushed out as a crate block. I know many who would do a swap in older vehicles right away.

ford is calling back for f150, anticipating sales and running ads on improved economy(21mpg). if gm sits back might as well, file for bankruptcy and save time. gm needs to be proactive, and move with this engine.

They should see that they are able to take a stranglehold of this marketshare now. Ford will most likely outsell them overall in diesel trucks, but they could take hold of the important 1/2 ton sales segement with this added motor.

GMC dealer told me that the 1500 diesel is on hold for now.

GM just never learns, right after they go out of business the engine will be available.

You can never listen to a dealer. Even the one I deal with, who has been nothing but honest about problems with vehicles. I just do not see GM dumping tons of cash into this motor and scraping it. Tonawanda is still being updated for these motors, this motor will come out on schedule. The release of motors like this has always been kept quiet with a flash of them here and there. I do not always like the Generals tactics but in the end I believe this engine/truck will be kicking the ass of the F-150/Tundra/Ram up and down the street.

I like about any kind of vehicle except for fords. If you look back at history, anytime GM has had an idea that is way ahead of its time, they always screw it up. Examples: the olds 350 diesels, the caddy 8-6-4 engines, early model 700r4 trannies, etc. Give them 6-10 years to work out the bugs, they will probably work great. I would take the new cummins v8 over the chev (engine to engine). Not sure that the dodge tranny will hold up very well to it though.

I'm ready for it. FLAME SUIT ON!

I agree that the fit and finish on the dodge products isn't what i would call top notch. However, i must say that dodges have come leaps and bounds in the last 10 years or so.

Maybe, or is the suspension just worn out? ;)

I think cummins is best in what they know which is inlines not lot of 903 or 555 v8 cummins around these days since they seemed to have a short life span is what i was told by some older fleet mechanics But on the other hand GM/Detroit made their name in the 2 stroke v6-v12 and those toroflow 4 storker they spent loads of $$ on the 60 series which came about the same time gm had $$ issues so it was sold off
