Anybody have a reasonable source for the methanol required to make biodiesel? Would also like to know if anyone is using the sulfuric acid method.

You could also try a chemical supply house. Probably helps if you have a farm or other business.

Don't remember the price, comes in quart and gallon sizes. Don't think it was
all that expensive.

Any place that sells a variety of racing fuels. I agree..I bought a 55 gallon drum a few years ago for something like 1.10 a gallon..I think it's gone up now though http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif

Speed shops, commercial fueling networks.........

For me, methanol was more expensive/g than store bought biodiesel.

That was the problem I have been seeing mannytranny. I am going to head to home depot and see what they are selling it for. You have to use about 20% methanol per volume of vegetable oil to convert, so if it's too expensive I might as well just buy the finished product. On the methanex website methanol is currently 95 cents a gallon but that is for thousands of gallons I believe. Thanks for all the input guys and when I find the best price available for all of us I will post the location and numbers back here.
