Hi could someone give me a crash course on this tranny stuff, Band adjustments, drums, pistons, speed sensors??? I just painted and repaired this truck, now tranny problems!!! let me tell you the prob, first of all its a 94 k2500 3/4 ton 6.5td... I will make this as short as I can... Repaired the truck, drove it for an hour or 2.... worked great except the transfer case slipped into neutral once. Yesterday took it out of the garage, got it stuck in snow... Rocked it back and fourth a little, nothing drastic as I know this is bad for a tranny(definetly nothing that should damage a heavy duty truck) backed it down the driveway went for about .5 miles stopped at a gas station and realized reverse is almost gone, drove home and found it was laboring badly and not shifting correctly.... Found the transfer case plug fell out at some point and was empty, refilled it, same problem. Now I have no reverse but still forward this means it cant be the transfer case correct? The transfer case selector is sloppy as hell but it still works.... and if you put it in Reverse in 4 lo and get the RPM's up higher it starts to creep in reverse, this means the bands can't be broken correct? And finally could the sensors or computer have any bearing on the truck going in reverse? PLEASE HELP ME :grd:

Check for engine braking in manual low. The low/reverse band is used for both. It sounds like it's worn out. You might be able to get away with installing a larger servo pin if the band isn't too worn.

I just had my 4L80E rebuilt to the tune of $300 labor and $700 parts with me dropping it and putting it back in.

Right before I rebuilt it I lost R, untill it was hot and then it would work. I had to replace the reverse sprag and planetary.
