At wot my log says pilot injection mm3 at .9

normal?

my truck also recently has a vibration with any tune. its hard to describe i cant figure out if its driveline or engine. i feel it on the engine, in the cab, it shakes my laptop, coffe, etc. its a fast vibration and the engine is loud and i believe it has a slight knock during mid and full throttle. the engine is definately louder. all temps, fuel pressure des/act good. (24k act/23k des)

is it the pilot mm3? if so how to fix it?

Scram,

I think you're getting ahead of yourself a bit or at least not drawing a clear enough picture for us to make the call on why your truck has a vibration. ;)

Have you tried the stock tune? What's the result on the vibration..?

What are the balance rates?

Is the vibration different with the truck in nuetral or drive?

This should start you out... :)

The vibration just started about a week or so ago. It is evident with stock tune, but more noticeable with higher tunes. It is evident in park and well as neutral and drive. Im going to change fuel filter tomorrow (sunday) to see if it helps. I can feel it at certain rpm's while driving, mostly at 2k rpm.
Balance rates are good. I have logged a run or two but Im really not educated enough with EFI to determine what Im looking at. I cant get all the pids that I want validated. It keeps saying have less than 36 channels, but there are only 24 pids selected......confusing to me. So Im stuck with the small pid selection that I use.

I know my injectors will make truck rougher at idle but they have been in the truck for two months and I just noticed this recently.

I can send you my logs if youd like to look over. I just dont know yet how to read what Im seeing.

My gut instinct is telling me its a crankshaft vibe. Maybe balancer.

Thank you for the reply Nick. :)

I need some help please. Ive tried changing filter, oil and oil filter. Still there. I tried changing tunes, increasing pilot injection, decreasing pilot, still there.

I have not tried turning pilot off, or off after 2600 rpms. Can someone tell me how to do this on LB7?

{B0748}, can be used to turn the pilot off at specific RPMs, but trust me, it'll only make things noise'r.

If it does it with the factory tune as well, I think we're looking at something outside the tune, but I wouldn't know where to start.

Honestly,

It sounds like a hard parts issue if it's happening with the stock tune. I would try to narrow it down with the truck running and the hood open.

It seems to change "frequency" with different tunes. It hasnt caused any problems, truck runs good, temps good, fuel pressure good.....economy good.

Iis likely relative to engine.

Thanks for replies

Torque converter?

Brand new ATS 5 star. I did have a convertor issue with my TCS.

Could it be a yoke, driveshaft, or rear end issue? Its been a while since rear diff fluid changed.

If you switched to a stock tune and the vibation doesnt go away then start checking the drive line

wheel baerings, tie rods,upper and lower control arms,carrier bearing ,U -joints,flex plate,converter, seat posistion:D

Dont sound like a pilot injection problom to me

Is there a way to check it with EFI Live? or a multimeter or something?

I just cant tell what it is I think I have more than one Im feeling.....this is a nightmare.....:) :0

Did you get a bad batch of fuel? My truck shook esp at 2k rpm when I had 2 injectors on the way out.

Winter fuel ? My truck runs a lot louder with winter fuel,I do not like the way it runs with the first 2 or 3 fill ups

Not injectors. Verified with EFI. Dont think its fuel related as its been going on for a couple weeks. At first it was every 30-50 seconds you could feel it. Now its all the time. Constant idle, or driving.

Narrowed down to a couple things. Crankshaft pos sensor, balancer, or engine about to blow. :)

I think you are on the right track. I would change the harm blancer & the crank sensor. Just due to age. Good luck

why throw money at a issue tht more then likley is not the issue. the sensor is a on off type of deal if it works it works if it dosent it dosent and when it doesnt or is acting up it will throw a code fast

I've been in a lot of trucks with converters that do exactly what you are describing. The worst two I've seen both had new ATS Five star converters. ATS replaced both of those too.

Ouch. Not good. I just had the ATS installed about two weeks ago. The guy that installed it doesnt want to look at it again. Ive been through absolute hell in my area trying to find a soul to work on it. There are people willing just unfortunately they havent a clue wtf their doing.

Two dealerships have done work.......only to have it f***'d up after getting it back.......two tranny guys have worked on it.....same deal, not right when I get it back.

Seriously, I need to drive the bastard to one of you guys that know what in the hell is going on with the truck, leave it and let you fix it, whatever it takes. Basically I have until the end of the year to get it fixed. (per my Boss, also my Father)

Thanks Bobo

I'd guess that is something to look into if that is the last thing you did to your truck before you noticed the problem. I hope you get it figured out. These trucks are a lot of fun when they are running right.

If it vibrates in park. It's not past the driveshaft or diferentals, or transfer case.

how long ago was the TC changed? maybe you have a loose bolt(s) on the flexplate? possible the bell housing bolts have come loose & the engine/trans are not alligned??

maybe?

Very well could be. Its getting worse, alot worse. No one around here can/will look at it. Not the two tranny guys, no one. Im trying to get plans together to get truck shipped to a tuner/builder.

The engine/trans misaligning makes sense. You really can feel it while cruising at any rpm. Its causing the shifting to be really jerky too. I would not be suprised in the least if the last tranny guy I had work on it two months ago has muffed something up. He told me on the phone that he wasnt liable becasue all he did was install a torque convertor, the problem aint his, and hung up.

Im telling you, I have some real winners in my area......

could be a broken flex plate now be carefull untill you get it figured out
