howdy guys, im looking at getting some rockstar wheels in matte black. im thinking either 18's or 20's. ill be wrapping them in a 285 tire. will this work on my setup?
my truck is an 03 2500hd with the torsion bars screwed in. will i have any clearence issues? im aware of having to cut the air dam. how about anyother tire rub?
where is the cheapest place to buy wheels and tires? i would like to get an all terrain tire.

Ones that actually fit our trucks are basically backordered for quite some time at most places, at least when I was looking a month ago.
I think they have a +18 offset option which tucks them under nicely, but won't work with a lift. I know this as I have a barely used set of XD 18x9 Monsters with this backspacing that didn't fit my RCD lift. (I know where you can get some black Monsters with Toyo M/T's barely used that will fit your truck and save you some cash.;))

well.... i went to 2 local tire shops and got 2 different insights.
one shop told me the 18" rockstars would be the way to go. they ride better and have more tire options, plus their cheaper. they want me to wrap them in a Hercules or dick cepek tire. prices would vary from 1600-1900 depending on tire.
they also had the 20's and if i wrapped them in the Hercules or dick cepek it would be around 2200$
other tire shop told me to go for the 20's. they said most guys who get 19 wish they would have gotten the 20's. they wanted me to wrap them in a cooper zeon stx tire. total bill would be around 2500$!!! OUCH!!!
what do you all think? we wheeled a 20" rim and tire out to the truck and they did look really good. only problem i have is damn they are spendy!!! i would like to get the price down to about 1500$. they told me i could sell my existing rims for about 400$ private sale.
anyone have close up pictures of the 18" and 20" rockstars they would be gracious enough to post?

one more question, how is the ride difference going from a 16 up to a 20? is it stiffer?
how about if i went with a 18?

I have 20's and I wouldnt get the 18's, the 20's look just right in my opinion, I found some on ebay, never bought them but, I found several places on ebay that would sell just the wheels or wheel and tire packages and ship them to your door with them already mounted and balanced, might be worth looking, good luck.
