I'm new here. How do I disable the bells(chimes) on my new gas 1500? They are driving me crazy. In the old days, unplug a few wires. But it's different now.I know it goes thru the radio. Is there a way to get around all of this? I always wear my seatbelt, it saved my life last year,I don't need a reminder, but if I move my truck 20 feet to hook up a boat,or move it 10 feet to back to the front door,I don't need the chimes. Any suggestions? Robert

You can turn the chime down by holding presset 6 on radio when radio is of.

If the above dosen't work, look under your driver seat there's a wiring harness, coming from your seatbelt holder that would be at your right side when driving, unplug it and you will never again see the light or hear the chime.

All I did was get in the habit to pull the key out a hair and I never hear the chime. Very simple!

If it hasn't changed since '03 the 2 volume levels for the chime are (1) obnoxious and painful, and (2) even louder. There were a lot of posts about this a year or so ago, and the problem most people had was the chime going off with the driver door open. Somebody posted instructions to pull a wire from a connector, complete with pictures, to disable the driver door chime. I did this and haven't had a problem with it since. I imagine that the wiring might be the same for yours. You can probably find this post by searching. I remember somebody speculating that everybody at GM was deaf, so searching for "chime" and "deaf" might be the ticket.
