Interesting.

I treat my truck to very gentle use, use severe service maint schedule (oilchange every 3500 miles) and fuel filter (stock) every 7000 miles
and my balance rates are right on the money with over 75K miles on them.

I guess i bought a 'lucky' one.

On another note, said dealer also has a few other clients that use their truck like I do. Same story, maint schedule and.... no injector failures either!

Their data seems to suggest that more maint and hard use of the truck has some bearing on injector failure.

Does any of this sound correct?

sounds like a bunch of malarchy to me. you might want to put on some waders on that one. i have 73000 miles on my lly. my maintenance schedule is according to the maintenance book supplied with the truck. oil every 10000 and fuel filter every 15000. i have never had any problems with my truck and my injector balances are on the money. just as i have been, you have been lucky. that dealer loves to get the $$$$ from the extra servicing. extreme servicing, such as yours, may be helpful but not causing you to not have injector problems. you have been lucky that everything was well when your truck was assembled and possibly some of the fuel stations you were using and grades of oil you were using.

i know from experience as my truck is driven hard and maintained per the schedule. no problems and thankful for it as for now.

I agree with ya Juice.

Tomac.

100K miles of having the chit kicked out of it. Rigourous maint on filters/fluids.

Highest balance rate at any given time is 2.5 ish

Has nothing at all to do with it. I do maintenace at twice the reccomeded interval or half wich ever one is better.

I floor my truck every where I go. Lots of country roads and highways allow me to put my foot into it. Been driving it like that since I had bough it new.. Now I admit, I dont do that with big tunes, but the 70. I just had all 8 replaced at 43000K.

The injectors are subject to failure. They all will fail, some sooner than others. The trick is to get them at a good price, installed at a fair price and all in a timely manner.

Just like replacing tires.

Maybe that *was* my problem! I was too easy on her, and that's why one of mine crapped out.

Here is the proof that adding more power is a good thing.

I don't know ..... Mackin maintains his truck and has been known to stomp on it once in awhile. Yet, he had his injectors replaced a couple of months ago.

I think Clint Eastwood got it right: "How lucky do you feel today .....".

Mine puked the first one after three months, it now has six at low idle hot with numbers between 4.5 and 6.7+ on six seqential injectors. They'll be done next week (findly found a des. price). Just turned 30,000 today...T

what is right on the money as far as balance rates go? i ask because i have one injector that runs about 2.5 mm in drive. the rest are a lot less, around 1.0 to 1.3 in drive.my truck still runs great though. i am just curious as to what is considered bad. wil

Don't know whether readings in park might be more idicative than readings in drive. Anybody have an opinion on that one? I suppose you could be within spec in park, but not in drive and vice-versa.

7 of mine read about -1 in park, with one injector reading -3.

fredw. -- interesting comment. 2 months ago balance rates were perfect. Now having all 8 replaced.

Do you remember what the rates were two months ago, and what the rates were before having them replaced?
