I have an afe stage 2 I paid like $350 shipped or something like that I know it was less than $400. I would recommend it highly it made my turbo whistle like crazy, and also dropped my egts some.

Answer E) None of the above. Posts say your paying for the Turbo sound & that's it.

I'd sure like a afe 2 ....but how can I or any of you pay 400.00 for a tube and a plastic box.... seems outrageous to me. Think i'll hold off and try find a used one....

You can find them cheaper than $400. And they don't make the metal tubes anymore so you may want to decide soon before they're gone.

Well i'm going to my buddys muffler shop and we are gonna bend some tube, gonna make my own. I have some pics and i'm sure after the 12-pack of beer is done i'll have my tube installed... I hope...

Just wondering why people tend to go with the AFE over the Volant?

I went with VOLANT. Like it and works good...no codes from the mass airflow sensor. IF you want more info on it, message me for more pics. Here is a pic of it installed on my truck:

BodySurfer, does the Volant make the turbo whistle louder? I'm actually trying to avoid the noise...

Louder? Well more than stock. How much compared to others? Unknown. Sounds like the systems with the metal tube are loud. But the Volant has a nice slight whistle in my opinion.

Any of you guys with Airaid, aFe, or Volant have comparative oil analysis results since you began running the high flow intakes?

The claims for the new plastic tube with AFE is that the D'max picks up another few HP over the old metal tube. Also the turbo whine is not quite as prevalent with the plastic. I've been running the new design now for 3 months and have yet to throw any mass airflow codes. Been very happy with it, but still believe that the pricing is just to recover the costs of developing the Proguard 7 filter (supposed to be the best - but yet I haven't seen independant comparision of this filter vs. others).

This website has been negative towards upgrading filter systems based upon older versions of the AFE - would love to see the new Proguard 7 filter tested and compared also.......

I see the Volants listed on ebay for $200+ 25 for shipping....not sure if that's good. I'm just starting to look for mods for my truck. The Trans Am soaks up most of my $$ as it is...I just want to find some mods that will increase my fuel economy.
