Is there a way to check engine hours on a 2002 Chevy HD2500?

Engine off, key off, push and hold the odometer button for a few seconds and it should display hours.It will show miles for a few seconds and then will change to hours.

u learn something new every day, i just checked mine & did math. i average 29 mph.

hmm my truck has buttons on the steering wheel to do that

im pretty sure 2002 trucks didnt have steering wheel controls, did in 2003. and even if they did some people dont have power options
