Just wondering if the U.S. version of the headlight switch is the same has the Canadian type. My switch only stays in auto and up, and can not shut off the head lights while driving. Drove through a snow storm the other day and the light reflected back was hoping to turn off the headlights and just use the drl and fogs. Does the U.S. trucks have the switch where you can turn off the lights or leave it on auto. Or is it the same. If they are different would the wiring connectors be the same to hook up to ?

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I have a Canadian truck now in the US and would like to convert it to US standards. Is ti just the switch I need to replace?

I too want to do this mod. As far a i know you have to program the BCM for this.
I just got off the phone with the dealer and was told they won't do it because it is a Canadian standards thing. To much of a liability i guess.
If there is anyone here in Alberta with a tec2. Im interested

Check out the sticky at the top of this section. In it there are instructions on how to disable the auto headlites. Hope this helps

I am pretty sure the auto headlight disable using a resistor will work on a Canadian truck.

my truck has the auto lights but if you turn it to the off position once it shuts the headlights off, and then it returns to the auto position turn it to off again and the headlights come back on.

Just to clarify we want to enable the OFF function of the headlight switch and still retain Auto lamps.

Then you will need your BCM reflashed to a US truck.

There is an easy fix for this that involves snipping a few wires and soldering in a resistor.
I will post it up when I get home, as I too had this problem and now they work as they are supposed to.

I did the mod on my Canadian truck today. No resistor necessary. I detailed the simple mod here:
