Saw thread in Do It Yourself area about installing this (for some reason I could not post in that area). Is this a difficult operation? Could use saving some $$ if I could do it myself. I'm good with computers and wiring stereo equipment but terrible with engines and wrenches as my knuckles will confirm. Also heard that putting a "plug in the bed" is desirable. Is this part of this installation, what do I order; or is it included?

Prodigy is simple plug and play. If you don't want to do any wire cutting, order their pigtail for like $8 with the controller. Then plug it in under the dash and run over to where you are mounting the controller. I mounted mine over the gas pedal over by the center console. Plug in the 40 amp fuse for trailer that you bought at NAPA, or someplace and go adjust the tension. Very, very easy.

You only need the plug in the bed if you will be towing a gooseneck or 5er. You might not even need it then if the cord from the trailer is long enough to reach to the socket near the bumper hitch.

very very very simple,, the hardest part of the whole job is finding a location for the prodigy that suits you. BTW make sure you get the correct plug for your truck, gm made some changes with the wiring configurations.

It really is just as simple as it sounds in Dieselman's description. Buy the harness and plug it into the socket located in the box near your left foot, mount the controller where you want it, plug in the fuse and you are ready to go. A guy like you, who is good with wires won't have any issues and all. There is nothing "mechanical" about the installation, unless you count screwing a mounting bracket to the dash.
