I have been losing coolant for a while now, and have finally been able to track it down. I have coolant leaking into the lifter valley below the intake on the passenger side of the engine, and traveling down the back of the engine and dripping past the starter. I can't see past all of the componets on the front passenger side of the engine to see where exactly the leak could be coming from. My question is, has anyone seen a 6.5 leak coolant in this area? I am assuming that the thermostat crossover is leaking at the head, but I am not sure. I hate to pull all of that apart and not know for sure where the leak is. Thanks in advance for any advice.

A picture if possible would be lovely. Just a guess though that it is an Al crimp that is leaking. Let me know. If it is where/what I am thinking of, then there is an easy fix from your local hardware store.

I don't think any lines meet on that side of the engine. Are you thinking that the heater hose may be over there? I will have to look. I would love to get a picture, but thats the problem. So much in the way of where the leak is, I can't see the source. I suppose I will have to pull it apart and see whats going on.

I think there are two places the quick connector for the heater hose and the thermostat cross over.

The coolant croosover is the first thing on top of the heads. It usually leaks down the front of the block. The only thing that comes to mind is the coolant passages in the head. The headgasket might be leaking there.

It looks like the leak is coming from the coolant crossover. I can see traces of coolant on top of the lifter valley cover from that direction. It must be coming from the back of that 2 bolt flange, and with the engine tilted back just enough for the coolant to travel back along the head, and down the back of the engine.

Get two new gaskets for the crossover, ~$2 You might remove the mounting bolts for the a/c compressor and just set it out of the way to get the lines out of the way then it's 4 15mm bolts to remove it, plus the connection to the WP and quick connect.

I have been in the process of reserching my major engine failure and dont want to alarm you but my engine died in a most perminant way some time after I discovered a "leak" comeing from about where you discribe yours. As it turned out it was a cracked head I hope that yours is just a simple leak repair but it may not be a bad idea to check further to make sure.
Good luck!
