Are there any comman causes that might give me a drive line vibration with my truck? I have a new stage 5 sun coast tranny, just did the u-joints about a year ago, and replaced the rear end oil about a yaer ago. My truck is only 2 wheel drive and it feels like the drive shaft isn't balanced any more any help would be great thanks.

Check it and had it checked looks good and everything is tight no slop in it or anything.

What does a carrier bearing sound or feel like. Is it a "rolling rumble"? Like the vibration is not constant, but comes in/out?

How long has the vibration been there? Could possibly be tires out of balance?

if you had the slip joint apart, when you put it back together did you line up the ujoints?

When did the vibration start? Did you gradually begin to notice it progress? Was it there before you replaced the tranny? Did it start directly after you replaced the tranny? Is it constant? Does is get worse under load? A wide variety of factors to look at here.

Started around time of new second tranny. I get the vibration off the line to about 30 mph then it goes away. If I baby it and take off really slow no vibration but get on it or have a load being pulled it's not nice. Took truck to tranny shop they said tranny is fine that they thought it was a driveline vibration and they only work on trannies. slip joint has never been lube yet was going to do it but just haven't yet so drive shafts are still clocked the same from factory. Also the whells have never been balanced. I use centramatics for my balancing needs and they have always worked great since I have been using them.

Sure sounds like a drive line vibration, I would check the u joints, and the carrier again, and as someone already stated make sure the two shafts are properly phased.

Seems to me more like a torque related shake than a balance issue. Could be pinion bearings, a u-joint ( and a tight or dry u-joint can cause problems just like a loose u-joint), It could be your stub and slip, but if its worn to the point where its causing a shudder it may be beyond greasing. If you decide to grease the stub/slip make sure you have it properly in phase. Properly in phase entails more than just the u-joints being lined up, if the u-joints are lined up it can still be indexed 180* from the way it was balanced. If this truck hasnt done this since day one like alot of the complaints i see on here then its likely one of the 3 possibilities.

I took apart the spring pack and removed some leafs and installed air bag trying to come up with a cheaper way to get a better ride. A Little better ride but hated the vibration so back to the drawing board to see what I can come up with neat time.
