When I fuel up I stop filling as soon as the auto shutoff takes place by the pump. However, I still get spillover stains running down the side of the truck under the fuel fill cover. Anyone else get this?

When you fill up the diesel fuel foams a lot and can come out of the fill tube. I run the pump at the lowest setting when I fill up. I get less foam and so far no fuel comming out the tube. I'd wash it off if possible as soon as possible when doing this. It can't be good for the paint finish.

I'm also worried what the diesel is doing to the adhesive for the trim. I keep expecting to see the trim on the ground next to the truck.

Doesn't that just piss ya off? I showed up to Mike L.'s shop with a big old diesel stain down the side with dirt sticking to it.

On the high volume pumps, it's hard not to do some times. I was thinking about making some sort of a shield to put around the nozzle so this couldn't happen anymore. Ideas?

I have not had any problems with the highest setting when fueling up. I am not sure if it has anything to do with #2 diesel versus #1 diesel.
Also diesel will not harm the paint on your truck if it gets on it. It just looks like crap because it attracts lots of dirt and some some small gravel. This is what will do harm to your trucks paint, because you or someone else may rub up against it and scratch the paint.
We use to use diesel to clean our trucks at work. Works great because it will get off the road grime and bugs easy. Diesel has lubrication in it, which gasoline does not and gas is has alot more corrosive properties and will start to melt some plastics.
I am not sure what diesel will do to the glue for the moldings. I am sure once the side moldings glue is all contacted diesel will not deteriate the glue or the platsics holding it on.
