New to the site but Im in need of some help!! I have a 1995 6.5l TD. I was driving and noticed my batteries were getting low, then it just stalled. I tried to have someone give me a jump so i could get it home and it wouldnt turn over, so I kept trying after a couple minutes it wouldnt turn over at all. Almost like it seized up. I think it might be the starter but I have also heard of the cylinders "hydrolocking" with diesel fuel, Is this true and if it is is there a way to relieve the pressure. Im going to start with replacing the batteries and getting the starter checked out.....Any info would be great plowing season is about to start I need my truck ASAP
Thanks

First off welcome to the site but you need to move this post to the 6.5 section are get one of the mods to do it so you can get some help. I would try the new batteries these trucks really need to be turning over good to get them to start mine wont start if it is turning over slow.

Welcome. The battery connections on these trucks are troublesome with the stock setup. On the passenger side battery where the 2 pos. cables connect together. Take all connectios apart and clean. Also clean where grounds attach to the intake manifold. Look at the FAQ sticky on the upper part of the 6.5 home page. There are posts on improving the battery cable setup and many other bits of very useful info on the common problems. Also in the sticky section there is a page on how to best use this site for new members. There is also a search function on here that you can use to locate posts on different topics.Thre is a wealth of knowlage about these trucks here.Read and be enlightened.
As far as hydro-locking with fuel it is very unlikely. Don't replace the starter before the battery issue is solved. Starters are $250+
Take a minute and fill out your signature[upper right above your name click on user cp and go to edit sig.] it will help us help you.

Altenator? what was your gauges saying? these trucks need about 250RPM cranking speed for a good start. If your alt, quits, and stops charging,,, then you battiers will crap out, and when 2 batt's go,, it will take more than a jump to get them going. Hydrolock,,, prob not.

Do you have RPM shown in your tach? If not then definitely a sign of alt goes bad or on the way out.
My suggestion is to DO the maintenance checklist. It is located on top of the 6.5 section colored grey start with the word "STICKY:".
