: 2002 7 year injector warranty
94blackcamaroz2 10-28-2008, 09:42 AM Call the stealer up yesterday about getting my truck checked for injector failures and they told me that my warranty is out. According to them, my truck was put into service 9/11/2008, and of course if you add up the 7 years they are right. So my truck is out a month and a half. What are the chances that i take it to another dealer that they would fix it under warranty?
RI Chevy Silveradoman 10-28-2008, 09:49 AM I would try that, a different dealer. Is the truck still on the original injectors? If so, I bet they would replace them. There was an issue with the original injectors. Good luck and keep us advised.
Moved to the Warranty Section!
94blackcamaroz2 10-28-2008, 11:04 AM well ive called 5 different dealers and got an appt. so we will see what happens
94383Z71 10-28-2008, 11:24 AM I have, what I believe to be, a real good working relationship with my dealer, I am out on miles, Dealer explored a couple of different options. In the end, they did not budge from the guidelines of the special bullentin. I am 27k over on miles, so maybe, a dealer would more linient with you, you are closer to being "in", than I am.
I hope it goes better for you, I'll be doing mine myself. Service records show my were done @ 167K under the special, so now @ 227K 60K on that last set.
94blackcamaroz2 10-28-2008, 11:41 AM Hope so...keeping my fingers crossed. I only have 135000 miles so its just the time that worries me.
94383Z71 10-28-2008, 12:13 PM Just an FYI, my dealer advised me to call GM assitance @ 1-800-222-1020, and speak with them about possibly going outside of the bounds of the special bulletin. They advised my to reference the bulletiin # referenced here; #04039B

It didn't help me, but I did not purchase my truck new, and I am a fair bit over on the miles. It might work out for you, can't hurt to try?
scramHD 10-28-2008, 01:05 PM The 1 800 number is bogus. Im sure its worked for a few, and I mean very few.
Best you can do is hope the dealer isnt busy and is willing to help. You can save yourself a little money if they dont cover them by supplying the injectors yourself. Buy some messaged injectors from Dynomite or Industrial Injection. Gain power and mileage.
Good Luck. I think just about everyone on this site with an LB7 has been through this, some like me more than once, twice, three, um.........four times. :)
goodwrenchtech 10-28-2008, 10:11 PM Just so yall know GM is cracking down on the policy. Money is tight and they are taking it out on the customers. If the truck does not meet the policy and all the paper work completed with a tech 2 snapshot the warranty will be denied and the dealer will foot the bill. This will only happen to a dealer 1 or 2 times before they start charging the customers.
94blackcamaroz2 10-31-2008, 11:22 AM Well guys i got great news today...well so far so good. I dropped my truck off at the dealership this past tuesday and explained the white smoke at idle and i felt that it might be injectors. They agreed, but they never heard of the 7yr 200000mile warranty extension to the 01-04 trucks. So I showed them the special policy and they went to work on my truck.
I called them today since I havent heard from them and they said the parts are on order...meaning the injectors are on order! I said then my injectors will be covered under warranty and they said "yes sir they are."
I'm totally stoked right now...i almost cant even work.
They said I should be able to pick it up mid next week.
Still keeping my fingers crossed for when I actually go to pick the truck up. I should only have to pay $100 right? Or do I also have to pay the diagnostic fees?
94383Z71 10-31-2008, 12:24 PM Very cool!

I've already had mine done once under warranty but I'm curious. Is this a do it yourself project or what is required to change injectors? The parts are expensive enough much less the labor rates they charge!!!

Should not have to pay a dime if it falls under the tsb. Don't let them charge you the $100. The job is done for free to the customer.
94blackcamaroz2 11-05-2008, 02:39 PM Well just got the call that my truck is just about done and should be able to pick it up tonight. 106 bucks and thats it. To be honest I dont want to make a huge fuss regarding the 100 bucks+tax. My truck is out of warrranty by almost 2 months and I'm very very thankful that they are replacing all injectors under the warranty. 100 bucks compared to 4k...yeah i will pay it.
94blackcamaroz2 11-07-2008, 09:00 AM goodwrenchtech, you are absolutely correct. I picked up my truck yesterday and got my visa card out to pay and the lady so..nope no payment...all covered under warranty and have a great day.
Awesome dealer. If you are located in Central Pennsylvania I highly recommend Johnson Motors and talk to Jamie...very nice guy and excellent service.

mikek996 12-24-2008, 05:33 PM if it is out of the spec policy timewise the dealer can still goodwill it and charge a deductible, last one we did out of time was a $500 deductible.

2000silveradoz7 01-21-2009, 02:13 AM So does the 7yr or 200,000ml rule work on all diesels? I am looking into buying one, but kinda leary due to the injector problems. Also do you have to be the original owner? And if it is covered and you take it in to have it fixed, what does it cost me out of my pocket? Thanks guys.
