What type of Permatex threadlocker would be best to use on the bolts used to bolt up a flywheel/flexplate for a 4 speed standard 6.2? I have Permanent strength RED, and medium strength BLUE.

someone will probably disagree, but i would use the medium, someday you may want to get the bolts back out. and they are a fine thread bolt and don't back out easy on their own. the thread locker is just a bit of added insurance

Any Loctite is better than nothing, but I use RED. Be sure to degrease the threads before applying. Don't forget to TORQUE the bolts. A little heat (450 degrees F, 250C, not cherry red, ) on the bolt or nut will soften the thread locker for easier removal.

used red on mine also, but i havent had to take it apart since so i'm not sure how tough it would be.

i think an impact wrench would get the bolts out no problem

They use the blue (medium) on the assembly line. I personally use the red and a little heat if I need to get'm back out later.... the medium works good too tho.........which color do you like better?

Thanks for the help. I went ahead and used the red. Just to make sure though, the bolts get set at 65 foot-pounds of torque, right? I torqued it to 70 just to be safe.
