I installed the tru Cool max between the radiator and the fan shroud yesterday and tested it while towing today. Here is what I found: 240 degrees while at 55 MPH 3rd gear 6-7% grade. While the cooler did help it is still not enough!! I cannot imagine towing during summer on these same hills. It seems like the radiator is probably heating up the Transmission cooler, and the little grill cooler is so small it doesnt seem to be much good unless there is allot of air passing through it at fast speeds. Right now I am think abouit moving the cooler to the spot where the front plastic plate runs from behind the bumper down to the 4x4 cross members. Any thoughts on this one? Another option that I am considering is ditching the tru cool max and going with a dedicated fan/transmission cooler that has its own shroud, and mounting it in a similiar location. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/cool2.gif

Had Higher Tran temps than that,

1. Cleaned area behind Tran cooler.
2, Alum pan, 3qts more.
3. TCC Lock up switch, Keep TCC locked, temps will stay below 200 deg.

Note Pulling in second at higher RPM vs 3rd at lower rpm , will keep trans cooler.
Higher RPM gets Torq converter above stall point, reduces temps.
