phensl1 03-17-2005, 07:49 PM i have an 02 duramax w/ 82,000 miles on it. i wanna get the edge juice w/ attitude monitor, but i am worried i am gonna hurt my trans. i have a hypertech programmer right now and everything is fine. i just wanna know if i get the edge is it gonna mess up my trans. if you think so, what can i do thats relatively cheap to make my trans not get so worn. FYI-i pull tractors a good bit as well so i wanna be positive it wont mess it up bc i cant afford to be out of a truck while fixin my trans. thanks guys

Diesel_Day_Dreamin 03-18-2005, 04:41 PM The Edge will sense when your tranny starts to slip and back down the horsepower. It is actually better than the factory setup. But don't take my word for it, go to this link and read for yourself... http://www.edgeproducts.com/
I don't even have my new truck yet, but on the workbench sits my new Edge Juice with Attitude!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif
I have the edge without attitude monitor and analog Isspro Pyro and Boost Gauges. I run on level 3 around town and level 2 with T/H on when towing my 38' 5ver with 3 quads in the back. Tranny has never had a problem and when I had the tranny serviced two weeks ago everything was fine. Wouldn't run in level 4 and WOT from stoplights to much but if you drive some what sane the tranny should hold. Need gauges to watch EGT's though when towing..Jim

If you can really call these trucks stock...:ro)
RanaExcavating 03-19-2005, 11:29 PM Let me first say that I have a stock Allison...............:blahblah:
I have run the edge and duramaximizer w/o attitude for more than a year w/o any transmission problems or setting any codes at all. I purchased the attiitude (like a drug (http://000info.com/?go=drug) addict) and within a week set a code by limping the allison:badidea: .
My opinion is if you have a stock alli dont go with the attitude. I happen to like the fact that w/o the attitude you can program each mode (regular and Tow haul) individually and keep your tranny alive. As far as i can see installing the attitude is asking for trouble because the attitude makes it too easy to change the performance level and makes the allison crazy.
All said and done edge is a great product to wake up the D-Max w/o tranny work. With tranny work ....... all bets off.
pt536 03-20-2005, 01:50 AM At this time I also run a stock Ali with the Juice/Attitude. I sure would not want to have the Juice without the Attitude as I feel the boost and pyro are a MUST when adding power over stock! Then it just comes down to self control and common sense....some got it and some don't.........
There will be a time when I will want to explore the full capabilities of my Juice, I am just waiting until the time is right and I get a Ali upgrade.):h
problemchild 03-21-2005, 03:07 AM Edge told me that ANY level even level 1 would eventually burn the clutches.
I took mine off and sold it.
Nah, Runnin mine (stock trans) HARD on level 4 & 5 for a year now with a heavy dually. Just keep it on defuel all shifts in trans settings and it protects the trans. For an occasional blast defuel only 4-5 shift and put it on lev5 low boost 5 and hit it. I dooooo want to upgrade mine but only to add MORE POWER!
Dont be skeeeered!
Tire wear and tickets, the main concerns.
Yo, problemchild,
level 1 might burn the trans after 3-400,000 miles?
Tsckey 03-21-2005, 06:09 PM I have the same set up as Jabs. I got the Juice for a bit more towing performance, which it has provided beautifully, not for stoplight grand prix competition. This means in I don't run it hard. Right now I'm experimenting with Mark Craig's suggestion that the best fuel economy may come from running the highest tune (in my cases level 4) with a very light foot. I've not had enough tanks through it yet to see if that works or not, but it seems to. The bottom line though, my peddle never sees wood, of course when merging it gets mightly close occasionally, but that is usually for very short bursts in the lower, stronger gears.

nwpadmax 03-21-2005, 11:15 PM Don't get the attitude? Ya gotta be kidding!
Get the Attitude and set it up so that the thing you watch is tranny slip. Everything else is secondary IMHO. Keep your eye on that and you'll soon learn how to drive it sanely.

I toasted my trans in a few runs using level 4. Burned up c3 and c4. But once you go through the trans, it is the best money spent. Trust me, lean on it hard on the high levels, you will hurt the trans, I guarantee it.. Don't believe me? PM MikeL on this site, he works on a lot of Allisions.
Good luck

Your right. So just in case, I ordered a suncoast V. All I needed was a boost. You can bet Ill try to smoke this one on the way to the trans shop.
