Well as you can read from my signature i have a 02 gmc with an edge ,ehaust and intake. I like running it in on level 3 but my tranny slips alittle.Tow/haul helps this alittle but i don't like using this all the time when i wanna play. And i think part of my problem is the 285's. But i wanna be able to hold level 3 and sumtime go alittle above. And i don't have 5000 to go crazy on a tranny i just wanna know wut my options are and tried and true options. My truck has 49,000 miles on it. And the fluid has never been changed would it be worth it to change it or just wait till i do wutever upgrades are recommended. Thanks for the help.

Easy!! GMCSLEHD had the TTS Extreme on his level 3 for about a year with no problems at all.

150 hp tune will make your level 3 giggle because it tickles!!! :laugh_exp

How is the driveability of the stage 3? I still want it to drive like stock for normal everyday driving.

It dosnt shift harsh at all. Very stock like. No banging of gears up or down.

As for drivability, I'm very impressed with the SC LVIII Mike did for me a few days ago. It retains all the good things about the Allison without any of the old "B&M shift kit" type feeling of slamming into gear.

Although it can definitely be done, it's gonna take a lot of steriods to fry a III from everything I've researched. Suncoast formally says around 500 RWHP is safe.

How much power will the level 3 hold? Will it hold a 150hp tune?In my truck it has held a hair under 500 RWHP without any issues and over 1000 LBS/TQ........

They are stout units........if you are really worrried go for the Suncoast IV kit or a complete STAGE V.......although I think it's more mthan most need............ATS also puts out a nice package as does TTS and now DTT is offering a kit as well........:)

You have 4 good choices to go with...........as far as the STAGE III..........I ain't skeered..........

I have been researching the suncoast Lv III as well. Anyone know someone in Vegas that does them, or maybe the L.A. area if I could drive down on a weekend? How long does it take to install? Sounds like the level 3 will let me use level 5 on my J/A with a pretty hefty safety factor. Does the cuncoast lv. III supe up the c1's enought to handle an occasional burnout?

Mike, I will definitely give you a PM when I have the money... truthfully, I have the money now, but the wife is going to need some convincing that I need this more than she needs new furniture. Might be a long battle. I'll probably have to bribe her with furniture to let me get the tranny. Will the suncoast Lv. 3 hold up to level 5 on the J/A? (not stacked with anything. just the edge.) Will the c1's hold up to occasional abuse (couple of burnouts at the vegas speedway oncew in a while)?

Mike, What is the install time on a Level III vs a Level IV?

It takes the same amount of time.

Thanks Mike. I've been contemplating the III or IV. I think the price difference between them warrants a IV. Even if I don't ever get up to the HP it uses I think it will be worth it. I plan on getting the upgrade this year. I was hoping you might do the install for me. Do you need a couple of days for the install?

I need 2 days tops, can be done in 1.

Thanks Mike. I've been contemplating the III or IV. I think the price difference between them warrants a IV.

Is there any difference in the drivability of the two models? IE: Do they shift the same, slip the same, etc.

Are the differences just internal, or would a knowledgeable person be able to tell the difference by driving a Stage III vs a Stage IV truck.

Thanks.

dmaxalliTech

you likely wont feel the difference in the two, after driving both of them in many trucks, I can only subtly feel it. Most of it is durability

So the SCIII is +/- $3500 installed, how much is the SCIV?

(I too will be looking at this - waiting for the tax return!)

The IV kit isn't all that much more expensive, and will hold more power. Just ask your trans guy (I assume you'd be going to Mike, since you're in CA) what his charges are. I'd say you'd be around $4200 for the IV

All I know is after I start adding this and that to the truck I'll need to save more money for a tranny lol.

ATS builds a nice kit also. You will want to do the Copilot along with the kit if you choose them.
