Ok so I have a 01 with the 8.1 and allison. Don't know a lot about the tranny to say the least. After purchasing the truck I left to play army for two weeks and when I came back jumped in and went to go for a drive. Well she didn't go anywhere. Took along time seemed like to get the tranny warmed up. Did it to me again when I came home from Iraq. Not sure if it is comon for an ally to take extended periods of time to get the fluid moving again after a long sit or if mine is just on the fritz. I was told that you got a video from factory when ya bought the truck new which I did not so if anybody has a little info that would be great. O and just a little info. The truck has 56k on it and it did have a fifth wheel in it at one point so I'm sure it's done some towing.

Yes, thats fairly normal if the truck has been sitting a while without being driven, its converter drainback. Double check the fluid level, change the red spin-on filter, and it should be fine.
