: Yippeee!! Remote PMD
Joe Palmer 10-24-2008, 08:35 PM Well, I did it. Remote PMD behind bumper (front bumper). Now can someone tell me how to get the connectors to latch up before I go touring. I am referring to the connector I took off the old PMD and am connecting it to the new harness. The kit is a Dtech. I installed the resistor but the connectors won't latch. Anyone else have that problem. Also is there a pic of the resistor in place somewhere so i can verify that it is in correctly.
Thanx a bunch all
Joe
Schwind 10-24-2008, 08:55 PM IIRC the resistor will only go in one way.

Yup. :)
jifaire 10-24-2008, 09:02 PM Good job, Joe.
First, here (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2830333&postcount=3)'s a picture of the resistor.
Second: whaddya mean, the connectors won't 'latch'? The connector between the stock connector and your extension harness, or the connector between the extension harness and your new PMD? Pictures would help.
Third: You DID properly mount your new PMD to a heat-sink before putting it behind the bumper, right? A PMD on its own (without a heat sink) will die pretty quickly.

I am referring to the connector between the stock harness & the extension hatness.
I did use a heat sink as well
I may have the resistor in wrong. I may have it flipped end for end.
DieselPro 10-24-2008, 09:22 PM There are some pretty sorry wire harnesses out there that refuse to connect together.

That's good to know. Not a good thing, just good to know. At least I may not have screwed up What do you suggest to hold them together?
Thanx
Joe

If you flip the resistor end for end, will it not fit as well?
Schwind 10-24-2008, 09:45 PM I don't believe it will go in the wrong way. I pulled mine and then placed it in the PMD without ever taking my snap ring pliers off of it, so I didn't get it turned around. look at the pic of the PMD either the one in my post or Jifaire's (it's the same pic). you can see the metal contacts on the resistors. pins 2 and 3 from the right.
jifaire 10-24-2008, 09:59 PM look at the pic of the PMD either the one in my post or Jifaire's (it's the same pic).
Thanks, Schwind... I knew I had linked the pic to somebody else's post, but couldn't remember whose... when I went to find joe a picture, I knew I had one... somewhere. Search works better if you know whose name to search under :)
Joe, I think that you CAN 'flip it' end dor end, but then it is facing backwards into the PMD. I think you would notice, and the plug probably wouldn't seatr all the way.
But yeah, look at the pics showing, as Schwind suggests, just to be sure.

The search feature is a wonderful thing . I had just remembered that you had posted the pic in a different thread and searched for it :thumb:. the thread wasn't mine. By the way Joe when you do a search looking for pics the little paper clip it the thread acknowledges that there are pics/attachments in the thread
Joe Palmer 10-24-2008, 10:18 PM I thank you all for your help & patients. Alls well with the truck. The resistor only goes one way.
there is a tab on top of the resistor to prevent it from being flipped end for end.
Again
Thanx
Joe
