: s-10 on mid 80s fullsize?
1967rs 10-23-2008, 11:43 PM I have read that an s-10 engine side heat / AC box can be fitted to an 80s fullsixe truck and it will clear a 6.5 swaped turbo. Has any one done this? If so do you have photos or a parts list? What year range does the s-10 need to be? I know I am not the only one looking for this info, so if you, ya you reading this can help please do.
pontiac59 10-25-2008, 07:18 AM Have to think S10 heater boxes are all the same from '82 through '93, respective to having AC or not. I was going to junk one of those, guess I will cut it out of there now.
rclem 10-29-2008, 01:52 PM ok i need help on this one if sombody can tell me if the s10 box will make this work i am in the middle of this thing and before i start hacking it up i need to know what i need to make it work.it is stopping me from finishing my burb and i miss my truck
cartman 11-04-2008, 09:58 PM You would probably not be happy with a s10 setup in a fullsize, I have owned several s10's over the years and the ac is ok for a pickup, but BARELY KEEPS UP IN A BLAZER. I don't know how well it would do in a fullsize cab?
rclem 11-05-2008, 01:59 AM i have front and rear a/c in my burban and i relly need a turbo to pull my32 foot rv
1967rs 11-05-2008, 08:35 PM Any A/C is better then no A/C. I will try and swing by the junk yard this weekend and take some measurments, and look at fitment issues. I will let you know what I come up with.
rclem 11-05-2008, 11:19 PM i may have 2 or 3 at my friends yard so after work ill go to grantsville and look at what i have so dont buy anything if i have it i can get you a way better deal on the parts.i think we talked onthe phone about this site.
1967rs 11-05-2008, 11:58 PM Yes we did. I am the guy with the 82 Jimmy with the 6.5 turbo set up.
Diaric 11-12-2008, 11:02 PM any update on this? gonna go get parts soon to change ac box and help on whats needed would be appreciated
rclem 11-13-2008, 01:28 AM i checked my parts cars it looks legit it might need a little adjustment on the placement of the dryer but i am going for it the power is worth a try.it also looks like one from a 90s camaro might work.good luck keep me posted
1967rs 11-13-2008, 06:46 PM Thanks for the info. I have so many projects that I have kind of put my Jimmy on the back burner for at least a week or two.
mattthebrat 11-14-2008, 12:21 AM All right, hope this helps: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/garage.php?do=view&g=5513 This is a link to 4dr4x4's garage, he has the 6.5 turbo setup with S-10 airbox, and some good pics. Check it out.
rclem 11-18-2008, 03:02 PM that helped a lot thankyou
Diaric 11-18-2008, 03:12 PM i went to the wreckers yesterday and am in the middle of figuring it out myself. I will post later how it all works out. the Evaporator Core ia about 1" shorter on the s10, the receiver drier is the same size, but different angles on line connections. pretty much just appears, drill new mount holes, bolt it on and hook up. may need the lower line from Evaporator Core as it mounts at a 90 instead straight out. I might look at notching out my firewall about 1/2" where the Evaporator Core sits as the original fullsize one fits in the box but sits about this much too deep, if that works out, i still have a full size system and just a few line bends to deal with
1967rs 11-19-2008, 10:49 PM rclem, I found a banks turbo set-up on ksl
