I am happy to report that I am seeing good results from this box. What I also like about this box is it does not seem to through the DIC reading off to bad.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Here are the results from my last tank:
Fuel was winter blend (not sure of the mix ratio)
The weather was between 15 and 35 degrees
Driving was 70% highway 30% city
The DIC said I averaged 20.1
HAND calculated 18.2!
Highway speeds were 65-75 mph
City driving is bumper to bumper city driving
I would say this is up 1.5 to 2 mpg's!
I think this is pretty good for winter fuel and being winter!
Also I do have my EGR blocked and I am my Finger stick is on order...

What was your average speed on the freeway? City driving are you hitting the throttle aggressively or driving like a granny?

This tank highway was 65-75 mph maybe 80 a few times
When I drive to work it is 30 miles one way. 20 miles is freeway with 4 stop ligts and speeds usually average 70-80 mph every day. The last 10 miles is bumper to bumper with five more stop lights.
I am to young to start driving like a granny. I drive aggressivley...you have to in the Twin Cities!

That's pretty good in my book.

What level are you running on the Va. I see you also have the Predator. Which do you prefer? Any tranny upgrades?

Dutchie,
I am running the 1st setting (70hp). The Predator and VA are close but I feel the VA is the smoothest I have tried and that also includes the TTS tow and EDGE. I think the predator on the 65 is a little stronger than the VA 70 but what I like is if I want a little more all I have to do is flip the switch and in less than a second I have the VA 130hp setting! I also do not have any tranny updates and that is why I run the 70 setting mostly.
Lastly the VA runs much cooler than the predator for EGT's. At WOT on the 70 setting (no load) I have yet to hit 1200 degrees...

Any added fuel mileage would be nice. I should get off my butt and install mine.

Thanks dmaxhd, it's great to hear possitive feedback on the Va, I too think they nailed it with this one even though I have no experience with other boxes or programmers. Very smooth power and clean shifts. I considered the Predator also but I tow heavy quite often so I wanted to be able to switch between power levels without taking 15 minutes to download a program all the time.

dmaxh,
We just keep getting the same response that you posted. Better MPG and veeeeery smooth power response!! The van Aaken engineers told me it would be very smooth and strong, but to be honest we didn't think it would be this well received by users! But by the sales numbers it sure is selling.

With fuel prices being high, many are concerned about MPG. Many manufacturers claim mpg gains, and I suppose some actually do show gains. The key here is repeatability and elimination of variables. So often a guy gets a new chip and goes on a trip. He now eliminates 2-3 warm up cycles and sees better mpg. That and holds steady speed for longer period of time.
While I'm sure many of the mpg gains reported are real, I still feel that the best (economical) way to gain a bit of mpg is by using a quality fuel treatment like FPPF Total Power. The cost per gallon can be easily recovered with a .5mpg gain, and to add to that, you are helping maintain a clean, healthy fuel system.
My real world experience is that I can generally get similar mpg with and w/o a power box installed. I've found MPG to vary highly with fuel quality, as well as weather conditions ie: direction of travel etc.
I've left here running good fuel and a power box and seen a disappointing 16mpg. I've also run with the power box off and seen 19-20s.
Let's hope that the VA mpg figures hold true. I've alreadt seen 18.8 with my LLY and a Predator so it has a tough act to follow.
YMMV...

I forgot to mention that I do use FPPF treatment from JK and I mix the total power and 8+ cetane Improver at a 1:1 ratio of 4 ozs each for every tank.

Have you seen any adverse effects from running the blocker plate w/o the stick?? I have the plate but the sticks are backordered. I drive a lot and I don't want to get 1000 miles from home and have a truck issue. I am hoping the MPG with the VA holds true for me as well. Buying 2 and 3 tanks of fuel a day hurts.

I have a non fed truck so in the 800 miles or so that I have been running the plate with no stick I have not seen any effects such as check engines lights or anything like that. The truck runs the same as before without the plate...
